If everybody runs around making their own rules, how can you find what's true? Because without rules, we will have nothing to rely on. Benchmarks.

God has set up rules for us to obey, to judge, and to live with. apparently, human by nature who tempts to make his own rule which is based on lust n rapacious and so they become God, or make one.
